Playing with Purple

The shopping, cooking and baking are done.  The Easter Bazaar was a success.  We had a wonderful Easter Sunday - breakfast with family after church and dinner with extended family.  The weather was perfect so the lamb roast went off without a hitch and the kids had fun in the great outdoors.   And now at last time to do some sewing.

Here are some purple spools.  It's always fun to use the little bits to make the 2.5" thread centres.

The Depression Block is made at long last.  I had some trouble with the 2" HST  and wasn't happy with the results so I cut 2.5" squares and made two HST at the same time then trimmed them down to the 2" square.  I was much happier with the way the block then came together even though it meant I had colour repeats in the block.

Here are all of the RSC blocks I've made so far.  It's been fun making them.  I hope Angela posts a few more purple blocks before month's end.  No time to play with arranging the blocks.  I've just put them up on the design wall grouped by colour.   Looking forward to May's colour.  I'm hoping for a nice yellow or orange for a pop of colour on the wall.
On my way to Creative Sisters for their Easter Egg Special Discount Sale I stopped by a local garden centre and picked up some spring colour for the sun porch.  April's colour is purple so the pansies and alyssum were perfect.  But I'm yearning for a bright May colour so had to select the orange-purple pansies.  Don't the two colours look great together?

While at the quilt shop, I picked up some double-sided fusible interfacing precut for coasters.  They called for bias binding but I elected to satin stitch around the edges.  April's colour is purple so I dug into the scraps and found a piece big enough for 6  coasters.  Aren't they bright and spring like.  Perfect for the sun porch.

I also picked up a kit for this cute little fabric box.  It was so quick to put together and it is purple month so ....

I made one in purple too.  What is so great is that you can change up the size easily by starting with different sized squares.  They're perfect for storing thread or tools used often.

I found two pieces of the teal fabrics large enough for a box so had to make another one up.  Aren't these little boxes cute in all the different sizes.
That's all for this week.  Linking up with Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  Swing by and see what others have been busy doing.
