I just can't believe how that flu/cold bug got me down... two weeks. Nasty!
But I've been out and about for the last couple of days and feeling better. I did squeeze some quilting in. I decided to make an extra bright red Boxy Star block for a total of 12. I can either go crazy with the sashing and borders to make this a good sized quilt or continue this project into next year and make a quilt top using only Boxy Stars and a border. I'll have to hope for some inspiration. Any thoughts?
I was also working on a little alphabet quilt along. I really should have thought this out before and looked carefully through my stash for fabrics for each letter but I went along with the colour for the month and my own choice for December. Here it is scrappy and done.
I've been looking at that "I" and thinking I would have liked to make it differently. I may just have to make another with careful thought as to fabric and a slight change to "B" and "I".
The pictures aren't great. I didn't photo shop them but it's been a full day and I just wanted to get this post out.
I'm looking forward to the Scrappy Challenge for 2015. Looks like Angela has more surprises in store for us. I'll be checking out the other posts tomorrow. Looks like and early night for me.

So sorry you have been sick. I caught the same flu/cold bug. It is nasty. Still not up to 100%. I really like the boxy stars. I would keep making them. I like them just the way they are. Take care.
Love those boxy stars! I would add light sashing with bright cornerstones and make it a quilt now. Finishing a project lets you start a project -- and you'll have a great snuggle quilt.
Glad you are feeling better the cold/flu but has made the rounds in our house too and everyone is just feeling better two weeks later.
Your Boxy Stars look great. You could go either way with this quilt and it would look good. If you do add sashing then you will lose the 'O' from the connected blocks.
So glad to hear you are up and about. Love your boxy stars. I hope you make more to increase the size... Borders are good chances for elaborate quilting, but I really don't care for them. Not every quilt needs borders.
I've thought that about the "I" too. The cross pieces seem too wide - for me anyway. The "J" would have to change then, too. (We had to design a type face in an advertising class in college... there are rules and ways to make the typeface fit with each letter.) So YES there is something not right about the "B".
The thing about your alphabet is the value. Your initial letters are a dark value where the second half is light. Still a lovely quilt.
Love your stuff. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
Hugs
So sorry you were sick Nell! I brought a nasty cold back from our visit to family in Carolina at Thanksgiving and I'm just now really getting over it. Take it easy and get better soon! Love your boxy stars - that red one really gives it a nice pop!
Glad you are feeling better, the flu can really knock you off your stride.
The boxy stars look great. I'd probably add more stars rather than sash. I like the secondary patterns you get with the blocks right next to each other.
Never good when the flu bug hits. Glad you are on the tail end of it and feeling better. Love the boxy stars - depends on the size you want to make it on how to finish it =) Good luck with your decision.
Glad you're back on your feet. Nothing like sewing (when you have the energy) to make you feel better!
