Boxy Star Block it is.
The coloured fabric really becomes the focus in this block and that's the whole idea behind the scrap happy colour of the month challenge.
And here are the two of them. Looking pretty I think! The colour in this photo is more true to the actual colours than the photo of the pink block alone. Those darn light bulbs just distort colours so much.
And now I have to get ready to head off to our PPM workshop. Can't wait to see what we'll make from 70 charm squares and 21 two and a half inch strips.
Check over at So Scrappy to see what everyone else is up to.

Nice boxy stars. What size blocks are they
Very pretty. I like the block you chose to make. They will make a beautiful quilt at the end of the year.
They look like flowers. Very pretty!
I like the Boxy stars; I think it's a super quilt design. Good choice.
I've never seen this block before. I really like it and your fabrics are gorgeous!
What a great block to showcase your beautiful pink fabrics.
Great choice of a block. That is going to look great in a rainbow of colors. Good luck with that little sampler block. I too need to give it a whirl later today.
One of my favorite blocks - I'm sure you will have lots of fun making them for the RSC!
Your Boxy Star Blocks are going to be so much fun!
The blocks finish to 12 inches. Twelve of them make a nice sized lap quilt.
Thank you. I've been looking at the block for a while and this year just seemed like the right time to try it.
It's all in the eye of the beholder.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing more blocks added as the months go along.
Thank you. I don't usually do much with pink so I really had to do some hunting for pieces with enough length to make the block. Boxy Stars has been around for a while. The quilts using the block are often made using 1930'a reproduction fabrics. It gives a wonderful old fashioned feel to the quilt.
Thank you. These pinks are some of my favourites.
The block goes together so nicely. It's fun to make.
Absolutely. Can't wait for the beginning of each month so I can make the next one.
Beautiful boxy stars. You'll have a very colorful quilt by the end of the year.
Excellent choice. I look forward to seeing this block made in rainbow colors : )
Great block you've chosen xx
Just catching up on RSC posts! Great choice. I love the 3D effect.
Hi Nell!!! I'm returning your visit from Val's Quilting Studio. Love your pinks and even more that you too learned to sew in your home ec class!!! I did too...weren't those the best times!!! I LOVED having a sewing class in the middle of the day...LOVED IT!!! Too bad these classes are the first to be cut from our school budgets now! :)
Well, I completed the little sampler block baby nines. It wasn't as trying as I thought. Must trust Angela's opinion and just jump right in.
Agreed. It was such a shame to see the classes go. It was great to learn how to make useful things with support when needed. The cooking parts of the class were fun too. Free snacking in the middle of the day.
Me too. It's interesting to see the difference colour makes.
